Starting on September 4, 2023, Street Gallery's exhibition wall at Fabrika will be hosting artworks by Italian artist Irene D'Antó.
Irene D'Antó is an illustrator, painter and 2D animator born in 1984, in Anagni. She graduated with honors from the European Institute of Design (IED) in Rome with a BFA in Illustration and Multimedia Animation in 2006 and received a diploma in design for architecture and furniture from the Institute of Art in Anagni. She also studied analog photography in San Lorenzo, Rome
Irene's work is characterized by its use of mixed media and its focus on the inner self. She often uses collage, painting, and drawing to explore her own thoughts and feelings, and she sees the art process as a way of meditating and connecting with her subconscious. She believes that mistakes can be an opportunity to create something new and innovative.
In February 2023, she started experimenting with NFT technology to spread her art in web3, creating a collection on Foundation called MOVING SCAN: three experimental scenography stop motions, scanning frame by frame her face and elements that interact with her in the animations. In June 2023, her work "MONOLITH," minted on the Tezos blockchain, was selected for the Exhibition in Lisbon LET ART BE during Non-Fungible Conference #NFC summit. She has also been exhibited in Toronto at Blockchain Futurist Conference with her stop motion "RANDOM", and selected twice to be exhibited in Las Vegas at the BREATHE! Convention with her stop motion "DEBRIS" and with her work "SHE".
About the Exhibition:
Reworked adv is an ongoing series of mixed media paintings. The series began in 2019 and is currently composed of three volumes: Volume 1 (2019), Volume 2 (2021), and Volume 3 (2023) , for a total of 61 pieces.
Each volume of the series features a collection of advertising images that have been hand-transferred onto Fabriano paper (24x33 cm) and then reworked with mixed media painting. The artist developed this technique during her artistic research while working on her square agenda "artjournal no.2" in 2019 and has perfected it over the following years.
The most recent works in the series (Volume 3, started December 2022) are taking a more pictorial and less photographic form. The artist is experimenting with different techniques and styles, and she is exploring the possibilities of mixed media in creating new and innovative artworks.
The "Reworked adv" series is a fascinating exploration of the relationship between advertising and art. The artist takes familiar images from magazines and newspapers and transforms them into something new and unexpected. She adds her own unique touch, creating works that are both visually striking and thought-provoking.
