On May 20, Street Gallery is set to open an exhibition featuring the works of Tibout Shaik, a Belgian generative artist and founder of 256ART. The exhibition will be held in our NFT space at the Golden Tulip Design Hotel.
About the Project:
My Generative Piano | We Vielen Met De Sterren (We Fell With The Stars) Is an artwork series entirely created using the coding language JavaScript. The entire work is hand-coded by the artist himself, allowing the algorithm to behave exactly the way Tibout intended. The work is pushing the boundaries of long-form generative art. You'll observe a highly detailed animated visual art piece, while an algorithmically composed piano composition plays in the background. Every time the algorithm runs, a completely unique, never-seen-before artwork comes to life.
The visual elements of black and white cubes mimic the ratio of black and white keys found on a piano. The cubes in the work fall and reappear, evolving and changing in a continuous cycle. The accompanying melodies are crafted by allowing the algorithm to select one of 60 scales and merging them with one of 16 chord progressions. Each beat matches the chord to the scale, and plays notes that fit that chord.
Each artwork in the series generates a unique, endlessly running piano composition for each day of the year. The final series will consist of 365 generated pieces from the algorithm, with each artwork featuring 365 different soundtracks. This culminates into a collection, or album, of 133,225 unique piano compositions.
