Starting on September 2, the exhibition walls of Street Gallery in Batumi will showcase the works of Georgian artist Rusudan Tsignadze. This exhibition is part of a collaborative project between Street Gallery and Karva, which is dedicated to supporting Georgian artists and showcasing their creativity within our cultural landscape.
Ruso’s new series, "Cemetery of Abandoned Houses," explores themes of memory and hope through the lens of architectural legacy. Across the country, many abandoned houses stand as quiet reminders of the past - structures that were once built with the hope of lasting for generations.
In artworks, vibrant yellow geometric shapes represent the sun, symbolizing hope and continuity. The shapes are not merely artistic elements but also convey the heartfelt wishes of the original homeowners - hopes for a bright future and happiness for the generations that would have lived within these walls. The connections between the houses and the sun express the memories that linger in these abandoned spaces, reflecting on what remains when physical structures are left behind.
Inspired by the artist's recent journey through the Imereti region (Sakartvelo), this collection captures the essence of homes left to time and the emotions they stir in those who visit them.
